Have you got any contacts with the bike lads in Istanbul?

If you're on Facebook contact https://www.facebook.com/mehmet.avar.12?fref=ts
if you need advice or assistance as he knows everybody and everybody knows him.

Keep the faith.

Be assured, it always does work out. (thumbs)
Thanks Bernard.
Mehmet has been a star - both before the trip, in my time in Istanbul, and since the accident. He helped in suggesting train from Kars to Ankara, he arranged for rescue truck to meet me at Ankara station to take me to BMW and he arranged for BMW head technician to check the bike... Certainly one of the good guys.

I bought insurance at the border. Daft thing, there's no contact info on the document - no phone or website listed as far as I can see. They have an office in Ankara which I will try to find and hope someone speaks English. I understand the insurance is only 3rd party. I'm working on the understanding that the other guy will say it is all my fault...

Ahhhh good. There's loads of lovely people out there to help.

It'll all come out in the wash in the end as it's part of that great scene we paint in travelling.

All that truly matters is you got up and walked..... perhaps limped....away.

Keep the faith.

This would be a good way forward as the marzzochi shiver fork legs are a lot better than the standard legs and fairly readily available
However they are not a straight swap and the job may get a bit complicated this far from home ;)

Im assuming you're still in Ankara?

I had my front wheel rebuilt by central wheel components using SM Platinum Pro rims onto a BMW hub, it was much cheaper than trying to source a replacement wheel.

I've got my old wheel as I bought a spare hub so I could carry on riding when I had my wheel made. It's a bit flared where I hit a stray brick at 70 but its rideable at motorway speeds just uncomfortable, but ok a bit slower. If it will help you get home you're welcome to it, but I'd like a hub back at some point.

Edit, just saw your other post that you're in or on your way back to the UK with your bike. Good luck with the rebuild.

Hi Dave,

I have the handlebars, and maybe a brake disc, need to check as one of them is warped after the accident.

Have a look on the UKGSER forum for a list of other parts up for sale.

Regards,
