£20 seems cheap

You can get spares for the Oxford ones through Machine Mart, of all places.

I've had a controller failure and a member of the ADV forum kindly sent me another that he had spare for free.

That worked well for a few years, then stopped. I thought that one had failed too, and ordered a new push-button one from Machine mart...but when I changed them over I found the 'fault' was only a broken wire.

my oxford copies failed - its because water gets into the controller due to there being no waterproof membrain behind the top sticker. i removed it and fitted a simple on/off switch. cost almost nothing. the elements themselves don't seem to fail
