Honda 1982 Melody NS50 adventure scooter!! £160

I'm selling a 1982 Honda NS50 Melody de-luxe an early twist & go restricted 50cc scooter with electric start.
This is a classic early Japanese scooter, a quality machine with auto choke and fuel switch, electric start, front basket, leg shield pocket and rear carrier, good instrumentation- speedo, fuel gauge and oil level light. .
This can be ridden on a car driver’s license as a moped, no CBT etc required.

Not quite an adventure bike but that short trip could be an adventure with this scooter!
I noticed someone doing the VMCC Relay Rally on a Honda Gyro a 3 wheel version of the Melody so it can be done

Originally brought it for my daughter-in-law who thought she would use it around the Devon lanes but decided to stick to cars after trying it up their rutted lane The bike is in Gloucestershire now.

I am selling it as a restoration project as it needs the automatic choke sorting and general tidying up.

Had it running, transmission works correctly, brakes, tyres good and when warm starts readily on kick starter (auto choke not choking when cold, needs priming).
The engine is smoky probably due to over oiling from oil tank oil seeping through the pump into the crankcase whilst standing, as compression is good..
The battery is useless, not required to run the scooter. All the bulbs are blown, a consequence of the flat battery, alternator does charge.
Using jump leads the electric starter turns over the engine but is noisy on engagement

Frame is sound as shown in the ‘naked’ pictures, it is assembled now, the bodywork is sound although the paint has worn off on headlamp shroud, see pictures area( ringed red), also show front mudguard has been shortened slightly and the headlamp has been cracked and repaired, front basket needs welding (ringed red).

The bike is registered on DVLA computer and comes with V5 Haynes manual and CD with parts list and manual downloaded from internet and a spare LH handlebar switch

Not the best job I ever had, by a long chalk.
