Leatherman repairs/guarantee

Post by AlanHolt » Mon Feb 04, 2019 5:38 pm

Has anyone any experience of getting a Leatherman multitool repaired, either under warranty or not? Are they quick, cheap? Is it better to just buy another?

Thanks in advance.

There's a long post on this in UKGSer.

Apparently the service is second to none.

It seems that they replace them to provide a very quick service. However, if you want your actual tool repaired, you'll have to tell them this and it will take longer as they send them to the States to get them repaired.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe the tools have a life-time guarantee so I think you only pay postage.

Worth giving the UK contact a call or email to see how it works, but like I said, from what I've read, it's an excellent service.

I can't recall what guarantee mine had, I've had it since 2001. The blade snapped today as I was prying out a 3" piece of cork. I've emailed them, i'll see what they say.

I think the guarantee is for all Leatherman tools.

Post up and let us know how you get on.

Yep, broke a blade on mine, went to the local dealer to buy a new one and they just sent the old one away to be repaired, the model I had was an older one so they just sent a boxed new one of the equivalent model...fist class service for the cost of P&P

Yep,

Dad got me one in Canada in 1991, 21 years later I broke the blade, I send it off and 48 hours later I had it back with all to tools on that side replaced for free.

You can't beat customer service like that.

I snapped the blade by using it as a lever for a chain in morocco, sent it off when I got back and 3 days later got a whole brand new unit. Amazing service.

The cork was plugging a drain in an agricultural eater deposit. It had been painted over with aguastop and pool paint.
