Redverz Atacama, lonerider or more compact

Hey everyone just looking at what tent to get for my first trip up to Scotland camping an for further afield

The Atacama an the Lonerider caught my attention but the pack size looks quite big on em' so was thinking maybe smaller to put in a set of varios (riding a f800gs) only got the top box at the moment
Just a weigh up price wise.

The Msr tents seem decent
Anyone got any real world experience with them

You need to ask yourself,

Am I very tall & need to stand up to get dressed?
Do I need/ want my bike indoors?
Do I like to have guests over when the weathers naff (as long as I'm happy to park the bike outside)?

If all or any of the above float your boat then they are probably the tent for you.....they're all the same bar the name on the side. I don't own one but have seen quite a few erected, be aware they rely heavily on the guy ropes to keep the shape & as you've noticed don't pack particularly small or light.

Good tents, just not my idea of bike camping. If money was no object I would have an MSR tent (but then hmm Hilleberg), but there are so many cheaper & just as good options, I've never been able to justify buying one!

I have the redverz tent and find it worth the extra weight when the missus comes along as the porch is a nice place to sit during the evening and gives you somewhere to cook etc when the weather is bad. I am over six foot tall and can stand straight up to get dressed . I have never and would never park the bike in it. When traveling solo I note use a msr hubba tour 1. This has a small sleeping area but a large enough porch for storing gear etc. You do have to dress kneeling down though.

I have a Vaude MK2 which I have had for over 8 years...Brilliant is all I can say.
Apart from it pitches in one go and takes 5mins, not the tallest but will never leak
I paid £250 for it back then.

Another vote for the Vaude (this is an older Mark 2 Light). Easiest tent I've ever had to pitch. Modern equivalent would be the Mark L or UL and in 2 or 3 persons.

I've had the Vaude terraquatro 3p for 2 years now, same design as above. Excellent tent, packs small & rock solid. I've slept in it about 40 nights so had a good chance to test it out.

If I had to buy again & was flush, I'd certainly consider the MSR tour, but I reckon my Vaude has another 3 years in it yet. More expensive than Vango but MUCH better made

I have the MSR Elixir 1 and use a tarp to provide shelter for cooking etc. Can sit out make a brew and watch the world go by when raining. Use the Tarp only, when a rush kip is needed or when mossie free. Very light weight and small footprint. Have a 2 man for less technical trips.
