Packable down jacket

Post by Brads »

Looking for somit to take away instead of my Buffalo kits.
Hooded, down, packable , quality jacket.

Any ideas ? I like Alpkit, but they never keep any stock of anything it seems.

No fashion crap please. Just decent tech kit.

Alpkit is the best I've found for a reasonable price, but like you say stock is a a bit hit and miss.

Montane stuff is good (if a bit pricier), I have a primaloft jacket from them that had served me well.

I've owned a Mountain Equipment Lightline jacket for around 18 years. It packs down into a stuff sack the size of a large tin of soup, and I generally found it too warm unless at altitude in winter, but perfect if I wasn't walking/hiking.

Snugpak is performance but is as ugly as sin ! lol I know I said no fashion stuff but I have to draw a line somewhere ! :)

Mountain Equipment one is pretty heavy. Not so much a packable

Mountain Warehouse do one at 80 quid that looks good (cheap kit but decent), most North face stuff is not that great imo, wife wears Paramo and Montane, both very good.
Still looking .

Might call Alpkit

Haglofs is nice, but pricey. I have a shell from them and it`s pretty good stuff.

Got one of these last year very nice and warm, went with the non hood version as it is way more comfortable than a hooded one when under the motorbike jacket.
