Re: Packable down jacket
I bought one in Lidl too. Fit is good. Bag to pack it down is a bit too big as it can pack a lot smaller. I was in Costco just before that and they have columbia down hooded jackets for 59 quid.

What I was really wanting to know is, in the latest issue Brynn says most of the thermal layers can be put in a drawer and forgotten about.Nick_2112 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 19, 2018 12:56 pm In the latest issue of ABR, the test on textile jackets, the tester says he would get rid of the insulating layer that comes with most of the jackets.
I was thinking about replacing my jacket, BUT, it's comfortable, waterproof and I like it, The insulating layer is useless though.
I have to layer up below 8 degrees. I would like a warm layer to reduce the layers.
But what to get? The Rab one mentioned looks good, or should I try a Lidl one?
Just not sure what to spend to get a warm mid layer?
But, to be replaced by what? What is better than these provided thermal layers please.

string vest as a base layer and don't laugh until you've actually tried them in real cold

String vest works well. As does Merino.
Anyhoo, I eventually bought the Superdry and am well pleased with it for £60. Looks smart as well so you don`t look like a refugee in snugpak ! lol.
