I've not tried other stuff, purely because this stuff hasn't let me down yet!
I don't bother carring tube changing gear now.

I'm so ham fisted that it's probably not worth while my carrying tyre changing stuff anyway - apart from a small little CO2 pump. We do see Holts products here so I guess the Tyreweld is available. The stuff I have been carrying - for several years now - I've never had ti use in live combat and in fact when I last checked my tool tubes one of the cans had disgorged its contents ...

Cheers

good point!! ... pays to check can every so often.. or perhaps change it ? 8-)

same with tubes too ..
.. a mate of mine always carried a spare tube ... when eventually he needed it .. it had a hole worn in it from rubbing

It's not a bad idea to change the tubes along with the tyres when they're worn.

Well rushed home from work this evening to cut the grass as the weather isn't looking to good for weekend, noticed one of tyres on ride on was a bit low, so gave it a puff of air. Got about fifteen mins into cutting, heard this hissing and the valve let go and shot off over the lawn. To late to go to a garage, .....soooo got an old car wheel and tyre, cut the tyre off with grinder, and tried to ease the valve out, ....but it just split. Looked at it and thought if I just mount it in the valve hole, obviously cant pull it through as there's no longer a base to it, hold it in place and, pump up with can of holts tyre weld......oh yes, result....my lad couldn't beleive it, and I finished all my mowing as well, stayed up for hour and half, and I don't think it's even leaking now.....Brill stuff. :D

Hey yeah, me too Stevey.

Just spent a wonderfully stimulating and highly enjoyable couple of hours changing all the belts on the ride-on. Why anyone would want to go skydiving, whale-watching or indulging in great sex when you could be changing belts on a mower I really don't know. Anyway job done and time to test out the chariot of fire....

BUT, it has a puncture. Not one of those ones where you just reinflate the bugger, cut the grass and forget about it until next time. Oh no this one leaves me and the tyre feeling totally deflated. So it's probably yet another new inner tube and a half hour sumo wrestle with the rim to sort it out.

HOWEVER, having followed the wonderful thread about Holts Tyreweld on ABR, I ingeniously pre-armed myself with a couple of cans of the magic spunk.

One can later, the mower tyre is as hard as a porn star wearing Marlon Brando's leather jacket.

Yeehah! One more big recommendation for Holts Tyreweld !

short story i were out the other night on me enduro spare wheel only done ten miles and got a puncture ....dark muddy pissing down with rain ..irony its the first ride out ive had this year non tubless .. me enduro wheel is too enduro to seal the bead tubless and i was running 8 psi with rimlocks just trying out the tyre ist time local to see how it was on the road /mud ect not used a vee rubber before

anyway got the missis to drive out with me spare wheel and headtorch rather than dicka round with the tube ......and when i got back i remembered this thread ??and thought how handy that would have been tonight just to get me home

i got a 2nd hand wheel off ebay for 80 quid for me klx ..same plan tubeless e09 on me travel wheel which has been epically good and rim locked tubed winter enduro tyre for them slippy afternoons

it arrived today..i also had a old tin of tyre weld kicking around ..maby i should have used a spike for the puncture but again its only a 2ml drill bit ...a pretty small home ala nail ...

heres what happened

thanks for the that minky :)

but I am wondering if a small nail hole would in fact provide a smaller hole that has more of a chance of repair?

In site carpentry, a sharp nail provides a pressure to all its sides, that is why we often used to tap the nail head to flatten the tip, providing a chiselling tearing effect .. like a drill bit does? .. as it gives a larger hole?

Also, do you think a fresher bottle would give a better result?

just asking/wondering ??

I have carried a tyreweld around for a year, not needing it actually, but wondering if I should still?

I take the other guys expiriance as accurate of course. It may well seal a smaller hole. Think the best conclusion is not to rely on it without backup. Can't answer for sure. Either way. But if you were to get a bigger hole or a shard of glass. I think it would need a tube stuff seemed to work ok but. The hole was obviously too big.

Just wondering, if you'd left the drill bit in the tyre, simulating a nail, wether it would stay up. I always carry a can with me, even if it it's just enough to get you off trail and on to some firm ground to effect repair....got to be worth it. :D
