cheap tent

Post by garyboy »

£50 atm from Blacks,
not bad at all!
can sit up inside !! (why I bought it)
reduced from £110 .. so not the most expensive or most robust, no doubt,
but seems strong enough, quality enough, and big enough .. and cheap enough.

a bit heavy at 5.6kg, but the crf 250L should be able to cope? on an extended tet,
(my present vango tempest 200 is great quality but can't sit up in it, so too small for extended use?.)

the fly sheet bit of the avon 3 is massive but the inner tent gives 2.1x 2.1 so sleep diagonal? is ok!
(I am average [ie short] and touch the ends, lying down)
it is a `traditional` dome, but with a good porch added.
ideal for the price, oi reccons?

ive got one myself used at the weekend up north.[red one] no probs, but beware the first time you use the side door after rain,it will dump a load of water inside, other than that bargain.

I have a red one too. Had it a couple of years now had no problems with it. The high roof in the porch is great for sitting in in bad weather. Paid about £60 for mine from ultimate outdoors. It's been very good for the money.

Yeah I bought one too in green ,as I have a vango omega 350 its a bit big for when I go to rallies myself I bought the Avon Ive used twice recently and its stood up to a weekend of rain ..what I like is the large front door ,so I can use the vango adventure tarp ...
Ive also got a eurohike spectrum 2 man which Ive had for about 8 yrs or so which is a great wee tent easy to put up and has small porch each side :)

the omega 3 is over £100 dearer than the eh avon 3, and is a tunnel tent .. the avon 3 can stand on its own once you got the 2 main `poles` up .. useful in a downpour.

I saw a cheap one lately, that looked like the vengo tempest 200 for about £50 .. will look for it.

ps .. I guess peeps on here are into high quality gear ? ?
