Over breakfast with some mates yesterday we discussed boots and durability.
In simple terms most wear of boots happens walking around off the bike. Flexing and so on degrades the waterproofing too.
The less use off the bike the longer they last. In my case I never travel without alternative footwear. It's better for feet too...!

If its on road I wear Alpinstar CR-4 GORE-TEX XCR as they are pretty good hiking boots, on the bike I pair them with lower leg armour as they aren't tall.
Off road motocamping I wear a big old pair of proper dirt bike boots.
Either way I've always got some birkenstocks in the bag.
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

My W2 Adventure boots have been superb.
All day comfy and wore them for two weeks riding in India without any negative thoughts.
A couple of times a drip of water has got through when going through a long watersplash but otherwise totally waterproof.

I've just bought a pair of their British Army Combat boots. They look and feel indestructible! Fantastic quality. They are a bit shorter than a traditional bike boot, but they do make a bike specific boot. But I like the 'shorter' boot for walking etc. Worth considering, and some bargains on fleabay.

I've had my Altbergs for over 12 years and they are ace for both on and off bike - they are a walking boot by design, but have some added features for bike use.

The military goretex boots also feature a lot in my bike riding. They are very strong, very waterproof and if you get the right size (they come in small, medium and large widths), very comfy for walking. Just like the Altbergs, the military boots are made for walking, it's just that they don't have the "extras" that the Altbergs do.

Just my mutterings

I find this Spyke Totem 2.0 boot.

Could this work? This comes with great safety features to minimize the impact of road injuries but little bit confusing about its walking feature. The best thing about these boots are looking great and price is also very reasonable.

I have Altberg Hogs but they now leak so got a pair of Ex. German Paratrooper boots for 45 quid and they are great. Not sold as water proof but so far they have been. Easily as good as Altberg.
