I just used bin bags for my wife, make sure you dig at least 1.5 m deep, avoid peatty soil and a bit of quick lime helps.

In many years of travelling by bike, all over the world, I have never had a bag slashed on anything stolen apart from a roll of gaffer tape in Nepal. I think that you might find that the pacsafes are more trouble than they are worth and if they are external, then it will just make thieves, think that there is something worth taking.
Low key kit is worth it, poncy stuff just draws attention to you.
Having said that will probably go back and find that the tent has been done over.

Pacsafe

Post by vRSG60 »

I've used a Pacsafe, works a treat. Wrapped it around a Lomo 40L bag and left it on the bike many times whilst I wander some foreign town. In fact I leave it on and lock it around the grab handles every time I use a Dry bag on the rear seat.

Plus one for the pacsafe. I used one for a trip to Morocco a few years back, was sound. Your rear rack will probably get scratched, nothing major, but it will take the paint off.

I don't think Lomo do anything similar to Pacsafe - happy to be corrected though (thumbs)
