Tell me about Tarps...

Post by deksawyer »

Looking to get a tarp to use as a canopy over the front of my Slumit Cub II tent (and maybe over my Aura 3 when car camping with the wife) and I've been looking at the Eurotrail Tarp Hardin which is a fair size and the Vango Trek or Tunnel tarp, which are a bit smaller.

Any advice and opinions on what else is out there..?

Cheers

D.

For me a army basha is about big enough, handy for road side repairs and shade at lunchtime in hot climbs...anything too large is like a.big sail ive seen and herd them flapping at.night then take off..hitting other campers vehicles....

Or.better still just buy a bigger tent lol.

I have both the decathlon and DD hammock tarps.
I modded the decathlon tarp by stitching extra tape loops in the seams to give more tie down points

I think I have even more tarps than tents, I have far too many tents :pinch:

They make fantastic usable space on even the smallest tent (no more cold shower crawling in or out) but have a good think about the space you want & how to set it up before you buy one.

Decathlon & quecha do some very good value for money tarps but making them work is a different matter. I mainly use my Vango Adventure tarp as it is so easy to set & keep up, but.... it only really works for front opening dome tents
With enough profanity, you can accomplish anything
