Robens--ripstop with plenty of anchoring points. Also buy a couple of packs of those short bungy loops with a plastic ball attached(the type used for securing tarps/covers on trailers etc)--cheap as chips on fleabay--then use these bungies on both sides and attach the guys to these. This way you have some self tensioning and "flex" when its a bit windy.

Yep, me too. You can get extra poles and replace the guy ropes with shock cord if you like that stylie. I've used mine for years - everything from wild camping over a hammock to a beach shelter for the family.Mike Wright wrote:http://www.decathlon.co.uk/tarp-fresh-c ... 00081.html
Had mine for years and inc the poles
An excellent bit of kit.

I used a DD tarp to add a porch to my tiny tent the other week, it gave me somewhere to cook out of the rain. I shall be buying a larger tent at some stage. The pole was an old one i had lying around...

Re: Tell me about Tarps...
I was camping last weekend in the great heat.
I was after buying a bigger tent, a Coleman Coastline 3 Plus [3 man 3 pole tunnel tent] which has 3 doors off the porch area, the end one having 2 poles. Will all 3 open its like a canopy. It worked really well in the sun and heat and very happy with the outcome.
It replaces my Campus Tunnel 2 [2 man 3 pole tunnel tent], groundsheet and tarp/tarp poles which actually all added up to the same weight.
Having the bigger tent was great, plenty of vents, easier to cool it down and cooler at night if I needed. All my gear stays in the sleeping area and only cooking stuff, chair, table etc stay on the porch.
I found travelling with no top box and the tent strapped on is my best option, everything else including chair and table goes in the panniers.
I have found with a bit of wind a tarp is a bit too much, especially if its a big one.
However, if camping in 30c plus and no wind the tarp is really useful for shade

Re: Tell me about Tarps...
Here's the DD Tarp M doing wonders at the Andler Hillclimb.
We were fine weatherise until the heavens opened - I was the only one to bring a tarp so it was erected with the use of the GS, my KTM and the Kwaker just in shot to the left as anchor points. Was roomy enough for 5 of us to sit under while getting pished.
