Just looking for some advice, as I am holding off buying some travel gear for my trip, which I am planning for early next year, as I have heard that you can pick up reasonably big discounts at the Live show.

Question is, will I be better off not waiting for the Live show and just find best deals online now for bags, clothing etc. For my trip?

There were loads of good deals at the show for the last two years (thumbs) . But the year before that there was quite a lot of 'tat' there. I think it depends on which trade stands have booked in.

I'd go with the on-line approach. I've never seen massive bargains at the NEC.

Most of the quality stuff is just for show. I was after some furygan gloves and Kriega kit and they didn't have the stuff to sell.

Maybe go to have a fiddle and try stuff on but I'd say shopping around online will give you a better discount.

So far looks like online is better than the Live show, which I thought it might be as I have yet to go to any show at the NEC and think I was getting a real bargain.

I have to agree with the other guy. The show is good and I enjoy it but I never seen any great bargains to be had.
Seen better deals online.

Some retailers do special discounts around the time of the Motorcycle Live show and sometimes there are some discount codes available at the show so I'd say if you're going have a look around, try things for size/ fit and ask about discounts.

I often find the cheapest online deal and ask at the show if they will better it, which they often do when I show them the web page on my phone.

Sounds like great advice I will hold off buying and try the old best deal online suggestion.

With floor space prices for vendors at the NEC running into £1000's / sqm vendors sometimes struggle to make a profit let alone allow them to give discounts. However it does allow them to showcase next years kit, or punt out stuff they've got leftover from last season. However once you've factored in the cost of travel to the NEC, the ticket prices etc and internet/instore prices, that bargain at the NEC soon looses its lustre

There are a few good deals at the NEC but the OPs are right - nothing stellar. The best deals can sometimes be found for large/heavy/expensive items at the eleventh hour on the last day, when suppliers are tired and want to go home, having been there for several days by then, and can't face packing all their unsold kit back into the van.
