Setting up camp in pissing rain.......I like to be able to pitch flysheet first, with a groundsheet inside which remains under the inner tent. Then take off panniers and top box and set them inside the porch where you can sort stuff out without getting wet, take off the bike gear and set everything up in the dry and eat if you want. Or leave them there for later set up but at least everything is dry.

In the wet if porch is big enough you can take off all the wet outer bike gear boots etc and keep the sleeping area bone dry. Plus its space for a chair and sit if needed.

Once you get a porch big enough to do that you wont go back to a small one.

Looking for a large porch for panniers, etc
I got a Bandicoot a couple of months ago, and with a Vango Adventure Tarp over the porch, find it excellent.

Designed for Backpacking, it packs small and light.
