Addiction for Tents - Is there a cure????

I have two tents, one small and one large, and now looking at another one somewhere in the middle, all within the space of 12 months. Suppose it's like everything else, you learn as you go along.

Trying to justify the one I'm looking at, a Hilleberg Tarra for Christ's sake (the red one in the photo) as I'm not made of money, by saying that it will be the stormproof winter tent and will last years.

Good tents are worth paying the extra for because you know they'll last and you know that they'll stay up in crap weather.

I still can't understand why my wife seems to be constantly buying new tents or sleeping bags and until the last bag she bought they were invariably rubbish and she'd point out how much cheaper they were than the ones I've had for years :pinch:

Different occasions need different tents. No cure for that.

Have you thought about vaude power odyssee. A fair bit cheaper than the hilleberg, 5 season but smaller. All depends on what you want I guess.

buying an expensive tent does not mean you get a good tent, I once camped in Derbyshire in November my tent was the only one that folded, £35 gout doors tents, no problem, £600 terra nova, in bits, they actually told me that it was unreasonable use a terra nova tent in Derbyshire in November, apparently they're not built for it, shame on you terra nova

I kidd you not, quite a few of my mates use body bags and sleep with the zip cracked to reduce condensation
