Bad pitching had fuck all to do with tent failure at the Ullapool rally a couple of yrs back. Winds touching force nine were just too much for a few of the tents, mine included, one split pole on the wind facing edge.

I'm Scottish so overspending's not a trait of mine! So here's my preferred camping equipment, I'm a fan of the products from Govan, namely Vango! We use a Vango Omega 350, decent finished tunnel tent with alloy poles, Coupled with a sail awning from Lidl's gives us the perfect weather covering. The porch is large enough for both Fiona and myself to sit in and cook meals if the weather's not great or we can sit under the sail in more pleasant conditions.
It's not all about the money or the pose, just a decent camping experience.
Best of luck whatever your choice.

hilleberg namaji 3 gt and hilleberg tarp, very comfy
About 800 quidsworth.

You can do Vango Omega 350 with a far better waterproof rating (5000mm v 3000mm)+ vango tarp for 190 quid.(fantastic quality & DofE award)
Slightly heavier build from tougher Ripstop weave cloth.

P.S. there is no cure for Tentaholics :silly:
no thanks ill stick with the hilleberg
Of course each to their own.
Just trying to advise from my experience some of the less well heeled adventure riders of the superb quality of the Vango Omega range of tents. (thumbs)

Yes! I own two. The Staika, that faced the full force of the wind in Ullapool a couple of years ago and is still going strong I also own an Akto for my solo stealth camping. Another brilliant tent.

We are the Pilgrims, master; we shall go Always a little further: it may be Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow, Across that angry or that glimmering sea.
