I've just got an E1, and I can honestly say I can't believe how quiet it is. I've been using an AGV Compact ST Course, for about a year and this upgrade is brilliant. I even bought a Givi airflow screen for my G700GS to try and cut the wind noise down a bit but this helmet makes me realise I needn't have bothered.
Pricey? Well a bit, but there are deals out there. Can't say I'm really qualified to compare to many helmets, but if there are better lids around, they must be outstanding to beat the E1.

I currently have an AGV Compact and you aren't wrong it's really noisy, the E1 and Neotec 2 are the choices for a replacement when the time comes.

Have you read the manual for the helmet? (I didn’t)
It gets a lot quieter if you close the vent at the bottom of the visor, not the sliding one in the chin piece, the flap at the bottom of the visor.
When you think the visor is closed, push it again, it snaps shut.
I had mine for quite a few months before I realised the vent in the top clicks/slides backwards and forwards, but it only really works with the chin piece down and the visor shut.
A lot of people get a bit of added comfort by modifying the front edge of the interior by pushing on it with their thumb or a spoon, slightly compressing the inner polystyrene where it meets your forehead.

Had mine ages and really like it. Only issue I have had is cross winds on motorways/duel carriage ways can catch the peak.
