A tip that I picked up from motorcycle sport (either Peter Henhsaw or Sam Manicom, I think) many years ago is to sew a fleece layer on top of the thermal lining. I managed to persuade my wife to do this with the arms of an old jacket I had years ago. It makes a massive difference. Why clothing manufacturers can't make proper winter clothing is beyond me. I want stuff I can put on over my work clothes, it is fine if I am just going for a long ride then I can put as many layers as I like on underneath but surely the point of bike gear is that you should not need to do that?
