Klim pants leaking - should I claim from Gore direct?

Post by deksawyer »

After a wet ride today of about an hour, my crotch was soaking while in my Klim Latitude pants. They're two and a half years old and have covered less than 1000 miles since buying them new from 24MX. They are perfect in every way, apart from keeping my crotch dry.
I've filled in the Klim warranty claim, but wondered if it would be more successful going straight to Gore and stating my case there, as other have done in the post down a bit?

Its easier to just call Klim Europe, Carina was very helpful when my Traverse jacket leaked. They will ask you to wash the kit and send it in for testing. Mine was all done and I got a warranty replacement within 3 weeks if I remember correctly.

I would go to Klim first, but if you have no success then go to Gore.
I sent my Hein Gericke suit to GoreTex as HG had dissolved in the UK at that time, they tested it, found it defective and fully refunded me. Was very impressed that they stood by their guarantee.

Gore are sending me a shipping label to have it sent off for testing. I've not even heard from Klim yet, and it's getting on for almost 2 working days.
Hopefully if they can see an issue they can repair them..

You should be going to 24MX, not to gore or klim direct.

After 2 and a half years I don't think 24MX would be able to help. You would hope for better from Klim, even if just to say get in touch with GoreTex.
Hope you get sorted, Gore were quite prompt with deciding about mine.

Retail wise your really obliged to deal with the supplier as the contract for the goods sold is between you and in this case 24MX. Having said that I've heard of some really positive results in direct dealings with Goretex themselves. Not only bike gear but mountain clothing as well. Hope your claim goes well!

OK, trousers were handed over to UPS today and will be whinging their way to Austria to be examined pretty soon - at Gores expense.
The reason I went to Gore was I fully expected (and received) a prompt reply with a solution. Will update when I know what's happening.

But Gore cannot replace them for you.
I have to confess that I'm weary of saying this. The contract is with the retailer, not the manufacturer, not Gore. Klim comes with a life of garment guarantee, you go to the retailer you bought it from. If you don't do that, there is no guarantee you'll get what you want.
