Now I have a BMW GS it's time to get a twat suit :silly:
But seriously, my Halvarssons suit has done great but I hate the fact it's only waterproof when you have the liner in.
So I'm looking for a jacket and pants what have an outer waterproof fabric.
It seems Klim and Rukka are bounded around a lot but are there any cost effective alternatives?
Or do I have to bite the bullet and get my wallet out ?

I have one of these. It is outstanding. Spent three days in torrential rain in Wales in February and remained bone dry. They do trousers as well but I have no experience of them.

I used to have Halverssons and i think if you look at pricing to replace it now you will be shocked at the price that kit has rocketed in price
revit are now trying there hand at the proshell as well now but if you want to have waterproof with out the extra weight when wet pro shell is the way to go

Go for rukka, kilm or Dane. All can be bought for the same money as a twat suit.
Check eBay for good condition used.
Some people buy just for a 2 week tour round Europe.

I agree on the disadvantage of waterproof liners--between me and my son we probably have at least 3 sets of Rev-it goretex liners that we don't use. Instead I rely on XXL German army camo goretex screwed up and stored somewhere on the bike. The salopettes have big zips so can be put on over boots and the jackets are long like an old school trench coat--and the collars fasten up right under the helmet. Throw those on, stay bone dry and don't worry about "the look"--and they are about 25 quid for the trousers and 35 for the jacket--new--and you won't get better quality goretex!

BMW Streetguard... expensive but absolutely superb with no lining to worry about

You need the uniform, bmw gs logos on everything in case they can't see the badge on the side of the bike. Don't forget to keep your luggage on the bike at all times.

I have a BMW Twatsuit Jacket and use their City Trousers.
Partly because they are one of few manufacturers who make things for people with waists above 34" But also - its good quality kit and the warranty is excellent.
There's loads about used too.
Same for the Streetguard Stuff - my wife uses that, and its bloody good too (thumbs)
Moto Bikemad and the like will tease you :silly: - but it is good gear.
I couldn't really quite afford the Klim and what not - but also their sizes were so complex, and there was nowhere I could go try stuff on - so I stuck with the BMW kit - there's loads of showrooms, and they'll fly it in for you to try on if they don't have your size, no fuss and no charge if you don't buy.
The Twat Suits are ok waterproof wise for a day out - but the waterproofing is on the inside effectively - so it works - but your jacket gets sodden and heavy.
I tend to do what CatCitrus says - buy a cheap oversuit (I have an Oxford £50 job, its lasted years) - then if its anything more than a hefty drizzle - or you're out in it for days - stick your oversuit on.

The waterproof liner has never been a problem for me, all I know is that I never get wet.
When it does get hot you`ll love being able to remove the liner and open the many vents.
Best gear I`ve ever used.
My Missus uses street guard and love that as well.
Love em or hate em, BMW gear is up there with the very best kit

Liners are fine if you dont mind riding in a sponge and seriously dripping all over the floor when you go indoors after a heavy shower.Washing in Nikwax will help keep smaller showers from soaking in.
Just picked up a barely used Klim Lattitude Jacket and Pants via the US from two different sellers on advriders I think it was £300 and £250 but you can really see the quality of the garments.
Yes I also have a BMW tourance 2 jacket and pants both with liners and thermal layers both good quality and comfortable to wear so I guess its Horses for courses.
