That may be my next line of attck, just not sure which glue to use.
Don't want to ruin the shell of the helmet.

Re: Helmets with a peak
I had that on a Wulf helmet, bought the helmet with a spare visor and when it cam time to fit the new visor half the screws were stuck in the inserts, ended up buying a new Aria helmet as the Wulf wasn't that good anyway.
Re peaked helmets in general, I think it tends to depend on your previous riding, I came from an off road racing background and have always had trail/enduro bikes and raced lots of other off road disciplines so a peaked helmet just seems natural to me, I've had a few road helmets with sun visors but they aren't a patch on having a peak when you're riding into the sun, I often ride with other riders using road helmets and they struggle with bright sunshine or tree lined roads where you get the dark/bright flicker.
One solution I've not tried yet (I've got a peak so no reason to) is a strip along the top of the visor, apparently this has the same effect as a peak and may be a better road based solution than a peak.

Re: Helmets with a peak
I've got the gray AGV ax8 my peak broke after about a month, it's crap in the rain, I only use it cos I paid quite a bit for it, I haven't bothered getting another peak as they are expensive for what there are to replace, I'm getting close to a replacement helmet, not sure what one yet, it's just over a year oldqcnr wrote:Just a heads up to those of you with a helmet that has a peak.
I have an AGV AX8 and last week somehow the peak snapped down the middle.
I have had it 5 years so can't complain that it has lasted that long.
Bought a new peak and went to remove the remnants of the old one. It is fitted
with 4 plastic screws that screw into brass inserts in the helmet. Guess how
many screws came out and how many are just spinning round.
1 has come out the other screws are just spinning round. So that means the
brass inserts are loose. Confirmed on one of them...
Might be an idea to check yours if you have a peak. Frigging expensive peak...
I only bought one as a ex m8 has one and he told me they were great,
Re: Helmets with a peak
I have the same helmet, and also had a problem with a snapped peak.
The peak snapped last year whilst riding up Torridon because of the wind, near to the right hand side mounting point. I taped it back together again with electrical tape and it last sometime (over a year ) before the whole thing snapped clean off on the A82.
Mine was the grey carbon colour scheme and had to get a replacement shipped over from the states.

Re: Helmets with a peak
Interesting topic.
I have put a sunstrip on my visor (Shoei Hornet) and it works very well IMHO and I have to say, the only thing I notice a peak does is act as a neck stretcher over 60mph. They are usually too short to act as a sun visor but I suppose they may stop a bit of roost but you don't get much of that while trail riding.
I suppose it keeps the visor a bit cleaner when riding with it up - i wear safety glasses and flip the visor up on the lanes, down on the road.
Taking it off may make me look less like an off road riding god though so maybe bring back some reality.
I'm tempted to try it without for a while.
