it gets pretty hot in Germany in summer....30 degs or more is common, and I know its a bit old fashioned but I like cotton T shirt and boxers, but I don't wear textile trousers in summer,(too clammy) Kevlar jeans are fine for me

Marino wool boxers. We were there a couple of weeks ago and it was 40 degrees although that was airbox temp. Icebreaker, etc do them. Bloody uncomfortable at times whatever you wear to be honest.

We had 35C in France a few weeks ago.......

Kevlar jeans with protectors in, a tee shirt and fleece or else a long sleeve tee shirt with mesh and back/elbow/shoulder protectors. The fleece to protect against wind burn and flying insects.

Too hot for anything else.

All underwear and tee shirts in cotton.

Wash out at night and travel next day with them under a luggage elastic. Dry when you get there! For BMW riders only: put them inside a mesh bag so you don't have your underwear in public.

I would have survived the entire trip without the bike gear apart from the above. Flip face helmet is invaluable.

in the heat I`ll wear a full mesh suit, with underarmor heat gear with full leg/arm top & leggings.
With that I`ll carry a Techniche hypercool evap jacket that doubles as a thermal layer.
for protection from wind & rain, I`ll carry a 2 piece rain suit

These work well at keeping your temperature down:

cheaper solution is to wet your t-shirt, but that only lasted about half an hour on the bike with a synthetic t-shirt in my experience.

Now I've got your attention, what to wear under my suit on my travels around Germany next week.
I've got the BMW Rallye 3 jacket and the BMW summer 2 trousers. Under jacket will be a tee shirt or one of the Lycra compression tops I have. Long or short sleeved I have both. It's the bottom bit I'm questioning. Undies & socks or something else.
I have full leg and short leg Lycra compression leggings or a pair of silk long john type things that I'm leaning towards. I'm thinking something to wick any sweat away from the skin to stop me feeling clammy.

What do the seasoned travellers wear under their protections when it gets warm. Yes I'm hoping it's going to be warm :-)

I'll take a couple of choices. The silk leggings seem favourite up to now.

+ 1 for merino. Man made stuff is good but designed for short periods of time. I wear Merino all year round as a base layer.

There's only one sensible option and that's merino wool. It dries quickly, washes without shrinking and doesn't stink if you forget basic hygiene rules.
