Hi All,
Was thinking the other day about one of these Flip Up helmets where you can rotate the chin bat all the way back and use it as open face helmet etc.
Found this one:
Shark Evoline - http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcyc ... k-evoline/
What do/did you use (if any) ?
What do you think about them ?
Pros and cons ?
What other companies do them (I know about Boxer ??)
Cheers
Chris

I've worn flip helmets for a few years now.
Got an Evoline 3 recently and I'm very pleased with it.
Comfortable, not too noisy on a motorway and easy to flip to open face when on quieter roads.
Plus an internal sun visor for the really good days. (thumbs)

I have an Evoline and am really pleased with it. The fact that the chin bar flips back keeps the weight distribution nice.
It can have a bit of wind noise, but in my experience most flip styles do....but I wear earplugs. I also wear glasses and it is very comfortable (I have found some helmets are genuinely painful if you wear glasses). The internal sun visor is handy (as a glasses wearer) too.
I did a review for it here: ABR Review Section

Does the chin bar goes all the way back or just up/midway ??macdee wrote:i have a caberg and like it but it does catch alot of wind when going fast

I have one flip-front helmet - Airoh - but its quite heavy, and doesn open all way back and also its quite old.
I am using my Hornet DS for day-to-day riding and love it but was thinking about this one for my (potential trip) to both Americas. You can flip it up - and peapole can see you face etc. You can dring / eat much easier and also you can flip it up all the way back put the sunglasses on and enjoy the sun on slow rides etc.

I have the Shark Evoline 2. I think it's a brilliant helmet. When this one is done with, I will be replacing it with the Evoline 3 model.

That does look nice. Here's the SHARP report on it and for comparison a "normal" flip helmet, the Schuberth C3. I would investigate more about the bit on the Shark one where it says 57% of impacts where the facebar remained fully locked, compared to 97% for the Schuberth. A Caberg flip is high too at 90%

Here's a link to a thread I started a year or so back on UKGSer, looking at the same thing: http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread ... xer-Caberg
Post #23 is a round up where I discounted the Shark due to the short visor.
I ended up buying the Caberg Hyper X which is a great helmet in all but very cold conditions.

Interesting that, despite the chinbar locking issue, the Shark gets the full 5-star rating, unlike the others.
I'm tempted by the Evoline.... my current helmet's a Shark (S900)which I like very much for fit, quietness with earplugs, etc. My only issue is that it's not very convenient (or comfortable at times) when wearing glasses.I have a Caberg flip (Trip) which is much better from the glasses point of view, but is noisier, tends to catch the wind more, and makes my jaw and teeth ache after an hour or so.
