Any good waterproof boots please.

Post by Mike101 »

Afternoon all.

I want a good set of waterproof boots. Not adventure or off road boots but simple normal road boots for my daily commute.

I have tried the eBay thing and got some great boots but non have been waterproof in the slightest.

I need them to not be too tall as my suit trousers won't go over the top.

I am hoping to spend no more than £100 if possible.

I want a pair of TCX infinities but can't afford them a the moment.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Mike

Hi Mike,

You and I seem to be replying to each other a lot lately :)

I bought BMW Allround boots for around £110 a while back. They're completely waterproof, my friend has just bought a pair too and rode Thu/Fri and not a drop. So he's over the moon. Mine went with me on holiday twice, one of which was ankle deep water crossings too and they've been fine.

They're these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Motorrad- ... 5af45a7aea You may not like the seller but another dealer will give you the same price as my friend discovered. At least then you can be sure on size too.

Mine are still waterproof after 2 years and about 10000 miles. The only thing I did was to lube the zip with paraffin wax as it became stiff a few months ago, but this was from no lube at all and lots of winters/salt etc.

You could do worse than have a look round Hein Gericke, I've had a pair of their road boots for about twelve years, and done around 60-70,000 miles in them. They've remained waterproof and comfortable all the time

I'm sure they were about £100, but they have probably been superseded by now.

Quite

But quality, style & comfort doesn't come cheap

Just paid £110 for some German slippers for winter

Depends how you define expensive ?

My Daytonas are worth every penny, fit is sublime & protection afforded for road riding is uncompromised

However for offroading, I would only wear Sidi

No point scrimping & being disappointed

I only buy the best I can afford & that comes to Corbin seats/MRA screens & Ohlins suspension for the bike

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten - benjamin franklin

Get on eBay mate and look for tuzo sk9t boots. At £60 they won't break the bank, I bought some for exact same reason ( daily commute ). Cheap, cheerful and really comfy ;) Plus free p&p. I'm normally a size 10 but bought a size 11 and they are like slippers.
