When I've gone skiing, I've often worn inner-liner gloves....when I'm riding pillion I wear these liners - and don't feel the wind/cold as much (I always suffer from cold hands and feet! :dry: ) I'm not sure, but I think they are silk, which seems odd that such a light fabric makes all the difference....
