Where can I find...

Post by OB1 »

... a small metal top box?

I know that Metal Mule, a company whose products I love, have them, but I don't want to pay £500 plus the cost of a base for what is, essentially, a metal box.

I need something small and, preferably, low-profile as it will be for the back of my CRF250 Rally. It doesn't have to be big enough for a helmet so around 22 to 30 litres maximum. It's so that I can keep things secure when I'm away from the bike for a few minutes.

If I had the skills, I'd make one myself, but I'm a designer, not a fabricator.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm... that'd be interesting. I always wondered where people get them from? I suppose an eBay search is in my future!

Just had a look at some ammo boxes: WOW! They're heavy! One that is approximately 1' x 1' x 6" weighs 9 kg... :o

Another vote for the solent plastics box., had one on my DRZ for 3 years and thousands of dirt kms, a well made and waterproof bit of kit.

I attached some kayak pad eyes - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kayak-Canoe- ... SwXf9ZmuCb - as lashing points for a light roll bag on top.

Thanks all.

I think I'm going to go for the Peli 1120 Protector case which you can get brand new from the Peli UK website for £32.
