Morning All,

I only get my satnav out a few times a year so I've never really got to grips with it.

It's a 610 and when I got it I loaded TT OSM British-Isles + Contours onto it. It's the routable version.

Whilst it's great for following GPX routes using it as a standard road satnav is quite tricky, if I go to 'Where to' then 'Addresses' it goes to 'Spell State/Province' and whatever I type in there it can't find it.

Is this the right way to put a post code in or is there a better way?

When you first start the were too...select the country you are in...lookjng for uk address with say france as last used search wont work.... ..

Just a suggestion i use cheap citynavigator copies

Some Garmins even differentiate between England, Wales and Scotland.

just tried my 600 Where to- = ADDRESS Address- =SPELL COUNTRY/WALES Wales- = SPELL CITY POSTAL CODE /SEARCH ALL
Guess you need to play with one of the many setup features looked myself but nothing obvious stands out to me sorry. Brilliant gadgets they are brilliantly frustrating at times too.

I have a Montana 650 and find its pretty useless for address searches and routes, but great for following a GPX trail or route. I use google maps for road sat nav stuff its much easier

Thanks, didn't work for me, I even tried Wales.

It seems to work ok for routes if you find where you are going on the map and put a flag there.

I have had that problem and solved it. Trouble is I can't remember how right now! It will be how you have it set up I am sure. Could be in profiles set for road not off road?

If you don't use it much, is the software up to date?

If it's OSM maps not proper Garmin City Navigator, have you picked up a version that's only got a 4 digit postcode search?
Some of them don't have the full Monty address search function.
Personally I never got on with OSM. Found the detail pretty crap.
