Teng Tools

Post by MotoCP »

After struggling with a couple of ‘notchy’ ratchets, I phoned my local Teng Tool supplier yesterday to ask if they could do anything under warranty.

They said just call in and we should be able to swap them for reconditioned ones if we have them.

So off I went (with no purchase receipts) and presented the larger ratchet that I’ve had for over 30 years and the smaller ratchet that’s had more abuse than it was designed for (using the extender bar in my bike tool kit).

10 mins later I walked out with a reconditioned ratchet and a brand new mini ratchet - all FOC

I have no connection with his brand whatsoever but with that level of service I can’t recommend them highly enough!

Greetings,

I remember back in the 80s Teng tools held the then prestigious AA Seal of Approval. The company was started by a Swedish man, Henri Tengvall. I understood that the emblem refers to a flying dragon in Chinese mythology.

I have used their products ever since, even bought them to equip the college's workshop and we never had a problem. They make a very useful little double ended 10mm-13mm ring spanner called 'Rigger Jigger', which was produced for the sailing fraternity but which is excellent for automotive/motorcycle jobs as it fits so many fasteners. Being small it can fit into awkward spaces, especially useful for work on car alternators.

I like Teng tools and also Bahco. Never needed to claim off the warranty on either as they’ve never let me down. I also prefer the shot peen finish of them, even with oily hands they’re easy to hold where as a chromed tool becomes very slippery.
I’ve had the Halfords Professional/Advanced socket set, broken plenty of pieces and no problems getting them replaced but I’d rather not have broken tools in the first place.
