Top box , any GIVI experts here ?

Post by ZX Raziel »

I need some luggage solution , for my Girl , and i want to start with top box .
The choice out there is overwhelming , it is not easy to pick the best , after weeks of reading i have decided to go with GIVI , purely because i like the looks .
The 42 liter version should be big enough ,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Givi-Trekker- ... SwstxVE9-g

Its the monokey type of top box .
Now i am unsure what else i need to buy as the GIVI stuf its very confusing ,
i believe that i can choose from two mounting plates , plastic one or metal one .
I want the metal one .
I was told that i need the SR1144 bike specific rear rack but i cannot find what model is the metal mounting plate , GIVI website its pretty useless .
http://www.givi.it/my-motorcycle#HONDA, ... _Twin_(16)

I think it should be the M8A model , as described here -
http://www.rueducommerce.fr/m/ps/mpid:M ... 9M60835860
is that right ?

Impossible to find someone that sell the M8A plate :(

Looks like you only get the Fixing Kit with the Part number SR1144

Ebay link for SR1144

you will need to get the monokey plate for this to fit the Back box
all i can find is this rear rack you have to choose a plate to go with this and I cant even find the plate shown on the Givi web site
you will be best to ring them and find out the part number for the Ally plate
Every day is an adventure

Try Motorcycle Planet maybe give them a call?
I had the ally rack on S10 and that already had the lugs on to take a topbox but the rack cracked around the mounting hol;es after a year

I use an Altrider metal plate with a Givi top box mounting kit on it, about £15 for the kit. So dont get too hung up about using the Givi plate?

I had the same issue with my new Africa Twin and outfitting it with my givi luggage.

You need the SR1144 rack, best price here http://www.accessorimotostore.com/index ... s_id=21588

and I believe a M5 or M7 plate that mounts to that. Then the top box sits on top of that. I recommend that site highly, I've brought tons of stuff from them over the past 6 months for 2 bikes, and never had anything but truly fantastic service. They do a great price on the givi outback pannier rails and panniers too, you literally wont find cheaper.

The M7 plate is a couple of pounds more than the M5 but seems to be a little firmer.
The metal plate won't be available for the @T until at least June

The SR1144 is 4 bits of metal which bolt together either side of the rack. To which you have to add the M5/M7 plate.

My advice is go for the 42L Givi Outback box. It looks the part
You can then add two outback panniers to match

Givi are only doing racks to mount the outback boxes to the @T at the moment.
