hearing protection

Post by doctor »

Any you Chaps have any experiences (good or bad) of custom made ear plugs. I cannot get along with standard plugs. Think it's because of rather small ear canal. Would feel better spending in region of £100 if they come highly recommended. Cheers

I use these easy to mould to irregular ears
if you cant get them in the canal properly
they will mould to the outer hole as well

I have Ultimate Ears monitors if I want to listen to music £200 when I got them so not cheap

Most of the time though I use silicone gel plugs from Boots called Bio Ears, 6 in a pack for £4 ish

They are meant for swimmers to stop water ingress. They are great for drowning out sound!

Mould to your ear and all day comfortable

Have worn moulded ear protection with filters for years now. Had a good few sets and wouldn't not use th m.

I use them on the bike, plus we use the same at work for aviation noise protection.

I bought one of the little round tubs with a few pairs of foam plugs last year. Tried and had a head ache and ringing in the ears after a 15 mile ride. Never again.

I think the only snag I have had is the latest work ones were crap and the filters kept on slipping out. So gone back to a older pair.

I have had a pair of moulded ones, Made by a local guy. Had them at least 4 years now.
They have been great, I say have been.
One of them has split so the fitting is a little loose now. But once you have them made as long as you keep the mould they use to make your ear plug you can get the replaced.

I also have an in ear monitor from ultimate ear that fits my intercom. This makes it much better than the Velcro helmet speakers.

Cheers Dave.

I use THESE much better than foam plugs and I know if I spent £100 on moulded plugs I would lose one :S

I had some made by a company in Bolton, had the mould done at the staffordshire bike show £40, not tried them yet they arrived today but recently i have found the foam ones working their way out and putting pressure on my ear giving me a headache. Remains to be seen how good these new ones are but for the price i thought it was worth a punt.

www.customearprotection.co.uk

Guy called Antone runs this and I have had plugs from him over many years. He is based in Dorchester, but tours the country going to Game Fairs etc.

Once you have a moulds you can get more if required and the usual speakers etc.

No idea what the prices are like.

Auritech custom fit plugs. IMO the best I've ever purchased.
