SATNAV FOR MOROCCO OFF ROAD TOUR
Re: SATNAV FOR MOROCCO OFF ROAD TOUR
HI..Same one as youd use in europe to be honest...
For morroc the olaf map is free and excellent piste coverage...just google it ...
I already have a road based nuvi500. And a excellent etrex 20 for trails...
So if no sat nav id say a etrex 20 with olaf topo map and a good michelin morroc road map should be fine..unless your minted then just buy a garmin montana that does everything ..if a little complex but nowt folks cant learn..
It basically needs track functions for waypoints and a breadcrumb trail to see where youve been and handy to follow out if dead end due to river washout etc...
Timcullins is the man on the ground so to speak lol

Re: SATNAV FOR MOROCCO OFF ROAD TOUR
Hi, have done 2 trips to Morocco, and have used the Garmin CSx 60, with open street maps of Morocco. Works very well on and off-road.
Can recommend the book by Chris Scott Morocco Overland, some good info and routes.
Have fun, it's a great place for adventure biking.
Also check out Tim Cullis Morocco Knowledge Base Forum, lots of good up to date info.

Re: SATNAV FOR MOROCCO OFF ROAD TOUR
Any Garmin satnav that will accept a memory card (I use a Montana but any with a card slot will do).
For mapping, Olaf is good but hasn't been updated for several years now and isn't routable.
More up to date, and routable, are the free open source maps from http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/
Unfortunately they only work on Garmin units as far as I know.

Agree with Phil, always have a paper map & compass, you never know in an emergency.
Sat-Nav & GPS can have gremlins some times!!!
Sometimes you can come accross one of natures road blocks !!
