On long trips, I always take a 'Kaybul' type lock.
Conventional chains are too heavy and noisy. U-locks don't fit around anything.
The actual lock I have is discontinued now but you can get the idea from this link.

It's a hollow braided lock. It looks very thick but it's surprisingly light, strong and flexible.
I want the impossible, can you recommend it?

If it's somewhere I can leave the chain, a short journey or a known dodgy area it's an Almax chain for me.
When I'm travelling I use one of the steel rope type ones (great if you need to lock your helmet and/or jacket to the bike too) and I'm currently looking at alarmed disc locks that will work on the loops of it.

Going for one of these, a kill switch (if I get round to it) and a disc lock.
I'd get an alarmed cable lock if the alarm sounded when the cable was cut rather than when a butterfly flew past.
Thanks for all the advice guys, that's what makes this forum such a great place (thumbs)

Sorted, that Kaybul chain arrived today, its huge, like an elephant trunk. I Need to figure out how to attach it to the bike now. It should deter people from trying to pinch the bike though. At least its not as heavy as it looks.
Disc lock is here too.
All sorted thanks to you guys, Cheers (thumbs)
