Which handlebars for DRZ?

Post by jonperry64 »

Just got some birthday money - and for a change I thought I would spend it on bike related stuff! I've been thinking of replacing my handlebars on the DRZ - I think the ones on there are stock. From what I've read the Renthal Dakar bars come highly recommended. However there are two versions available - medium and high. Given that I am 6ft, does anyone know which would suit me better? Also, would cables need re-routing if I went for the high ones?
Cheers

Hi Jon

I have Renthal Dakar high, very nice bars. For your height i would def go for the High ones. As for cables, im not sure but i reckon you would be fine.

I vote the high ones too, tried both before and the medium were too short.

I use Pro Taper ATV Hi, no need to lengthen cables.

I've been wanting to change my bars on the DRZ too.
I'm 6'3" & even with risers on stock bars are too low.
Defo go for the high bars, even look at lowering the foot pegs a tad as well.
Let us know if you find some at a good price, will be tempted to get the same pair.

I'm 6'4" and have Renthal high bars (not sure if they are Dakar or not, but they look the same as ones on eBay) I also have 30mm bar risers - the cables are all fine. If anything, I'd like an extra couple of inches though (insert Sid James laugh here) as when I'm stood on the pegs I'm stooping / bending over too much.
