What I managed to grasp from the second vid was its very important to touch and stroke them a great deal even when its cold, the finish not so good after giving a little bit of a rub with your crutch, a bit heavier to pick up than they look. Reminds me of something.

Triumphs are produced in Thailand.
KTM and BWM small models in China.
Benelli is owned by Chinese. Produced in China.
......

AKT in Colombia assembles bikes from Chinese parts.
The opposite to European way. To locate production in China. The import taxes of complete MC are high. But low for sub assemblies....
So the bike gets cheaper,. They create local jobs. And can do some own improvements
They have good reputation from the ones that have actually used them.

I've found the same for my Chinese Benelli Vs my Himalayan, infact the only bike I would change them both for is another Chinese built bike that has caught my eye.

Chinese bikes used to die prematurely because the metals and finishes used were of shocking quality. That has improved a bit (especially for the bikes badged by established brands).
I think what will hold the Chinese brands back is the perception (in some cases true, in others not) that parts back-up is very inconsistent. If the UK importer doesn't have the required widget in stock, they seem to be a long time coming in a container from China.

I remember a time Japanese stuff had got the same reputation.

Then came the Honda CB750-4.............

Buy anything and the bits inside are already coming from China.

But the Japanese perceived lack of quality is a myth. In fact, look at the Honda 250s from the late 1960s and they were more expensive than BSA Starfires and the like. The quality was there from the start, as evidenced by reliable electrics, lack of oil leaks and the ability to run at high speeds all day long.

Saw a nice 500 (or thereabouts) Adventure Bike at Overland - on the road price of £5k.

Looked pretty nice, finish was good & spec was great.

Give it a few years & they'll be everywhere...
