Re: What’s happened to all the cheap bikes
A few more pretty fast bikes that nobody much wants (making them cheap):
GSX1100F - the one with the power screen gimmick. Everyone wants a classic GSX1100E or a Katana or a concours GSXR1100 Slabbie - but the F is unloved and cheap as chips. You could still tour Europe on one no problem. But not in style!
RF900 - same kind of thing really. Loads of power.
Ducati ST2 - a more risky choice, but one of the cheapest ways to get a shiny Ducati in your garage. Still undervalued.
Kawasaki ZZR1100 & ZZR1200. Very cheap way to go bloody fast, and good tourers too.
Yamaha Thunderace - same as above. Very quick, and they even handle well but under-rated and forgotten about compared to R1s.
There will be more I can't think of right now. Apart from the Ducati, all of the above can be confidently bought with high mileages on them too - which usually makes them even cheaper - because a lot of bikers are scared to death of a bike with over 50k on the clock.

Think a'body is getting a bit off topic, the guy was looking for a cheap bike for playing off road not some ugly bike to go touring Europe at tonne up speeds

There’s been more than 1 ZZR used off-road, I’m sure about that.Scotriders wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 4:27 pm Think a'body is getting a bit off topic, the guy was looking for a cheap bike for playing off road not some ugly bike to go touring Europe at tonne up speeds

Thank goodness I have my hair shirt handy. I'll put it on right now. And I'd better fetch the birch twigs for some healthy self-flagellation.Scotriders wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 4:27 pm Think a'body is getting a bit off topic, the guy was looking for a cheap bike for playing off road not some ugly bike to go touring Europe at tonne up speeds
