I got my recall letter as well but won’t be rushing to get it sorted unlike my spokes that need replacing again.

Some things never change my old xt660z had what appeared to be rusty front spokes was actually the sintered brake dust oxidising rear was never as bad as used organic pads on rear.... The replacements under warrenty went the same way too..

Very true, the spokes are being blasted with tiny particles of very hot metal.

Similar issue with aluminium wheels on heavy trucks when they switched over to disc brakes. The solution was to lacquer the wheels!

I see the yamaha tenere T700 travel has been seen with a 20ltr tank...

Just a thing about brake dust--I use to live in Ivybridge , Devon not far from the main SW train track. Lets say 200yds plus to my silver Ford. The metallic dust from the train brakes used to float around in the atmosphere and land on my car, whereupon the dust particles oxidised and embedded themselves on to the paint. The only solution was a very careful wash with a diluted acid solution to get the little specs off. You could feel them and also see the against the paint. The solution is REGULAR washing.

surely Yamaha isn't thinking of putting 15kg of fuel so high on an adventure bike?,

The ol' 660 had the version with a 22/23ltr tank did it not? Definite selling point from the usual piddly tanks with enough capacity to get you somewhere then your fecked/ having to "calm down."

So I see their thinking.

What kind of range have folk eke'd out the T7?

T7 don't know but I don't fill my 660 up until its clocked 300 miles

Problem with the 660z, with that nice big tank it turned it into a barge, made her top heavy. Hope the T7 doesn't end up the same

surely its only an option to brim it, a bit of extra capacity is occasionally welcome.
