Guilty Pleasures

Post by daveuprite »

I just got thinking about bikes I've owned and bikes I haven't. Separate from the enduro/dirt bikes, I've always been a sports bike rider, with a long history of GSXRs, R1s, Fireblades, Bimotas etc etc. But sometimes I find myself ebay searching other types of bike that I would probably never buy but I secretly quite like.

Here's one:

Yamaha MT01

Very heavy, sluggish custom bike engine, top-heavy. Everything you don't want in a road bike. But I kind of like it...

Do you have a guilty pleasure bike you are prepared to admit to?

Moto Guzzi V85 TT scrambler/ adventure bike. There are many other probably better, adventure/ travel bikes out there. But there is definitely something about the styling of this one! Sorry, not sure how to do a link for everyone.

Yeah, I can see the point, Phil. If you like the look of a 1960s Triumph twin but don't want to dodge a puddle of oil underneath the bike each day, the W650/800 is just the ticket I guess. The 1999/2000 era W650 looked far more like a 1960s Bonneville than the retros that Triumph were turning out at Hinkley at the same time.

Yep, I'm a sucker for some Guzzis too, though I've never owned one. Maybe one day, just to be different. Griso perhaps, or a V12 Sports. The MGS01 was totally gorgeous, but sadly never made the road. And the Ghezzi Brian bikes look great too.

For some reason I quite fancy the look of these although I would never buy as they seem totally impractical, they look like they would be great fun to ride. I think it was Edward Turner who said that a bike should look like it was doing 100mph when stood still, these certainly do that for me.

I would never have one or own one as I would truly end up killing myself but this was always one of my guilty pleasures ...

but these are not the ones that tickle my fancy as they are one ugly bike but put a gsxr back end on and street fighter the bike and my man hood starts to tickle and the guilty pleasures kick in 😂🤣😂🤣 who wouldn't like one of these.

Decided to carpe diem after my Dad passed away.
Always wanted and found a good one so why not, after 3k miles in 3 three years and a couple of near death experiences it had to go

Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.

Well, if the long haired general went walk about, I'd be out the next day for mk1 guzzi le mans. Sex on 2 wheels, good thread btw.
