Regarding the Honda CrossTourer 1200;
I test rode one about 5 years ago for a good 40/50 miles, I simply couldn't believe that V-4 engine, such a flipping peach..!!
So jumping from my V-Strom DL1000 to the CrossTourer 1200 test-ride was like day and night engine wise alone, butterly smoooooth and the 127bhp was more than enough compared to my Strom's 95bhp. The shaft-drive unit works for me compared to chain drive, it's the hassle free maintenance I'd love compared to chain etc...
A machine that's a brilliant all rounder with an amazing engine..! I wouldn't mind trying the DCT version at some stage.

Mac, if your out and about and see a black one with a big handsome male model with a bit of middle age spread on it, give us a shout and we can swap.
Seeing another CT is actually becoming more common the last few years. A lot of bike for not a lot of money.

Another post in support of the S10.
I've only had mine for a couple of months and 1000 miles of winter riding.
It's 6 years old and brimming with after market bling. I wanted a big adventure bike and had a 6/7K budget.
These S10's are great value secondhand, they're generally in good shape, have "essential" extras already fitted, they have decent mpg and they're comfortable.
So it was a purchase with the head rather than the heart. I didn't expect to actually particularly like riding the bike.
Before riding one I'd already formed the opinion that they were a bit characterless and flat.
Mine's been a revaluation, loads of torque, nice handling, easy 55mpg and fast.

Those S10's reminds me of a beefed up TDM900 on steroids with a shaft-drive unit.
Probably the best touring machine I've personally owned over my time/experience has to be the Yamaha TDM900, simply loved it for it's comfort/economy/handling and generally a brilliant all rounder, great brakes.....I'd have another tomorrow!
85bhp that can be used or abused as much as you like, deceptively quick in the right hands, the only upgrade I had done was fitted a K&N air filter etc... An awesome machine. I appreciate they're now getting long in the tooth but can still hustle.

Another happy S10 owner, really good value for money, the Gen2 (2014 on) is the way to go if the budget will stretch. Take one for a long test ride though, at first they seem a bit average but they really grow on you. Ultra reliable too.

Will;
I'd reckon the Yamaha MT-09 Tracer would be a fantastic contender Adventure bike wise. Not overly priced along with a healthy 115 brake ponies.......superb Triple cylinder engine.......what's not to like.....!!
