That's £3507 spent on repairs in 578 miles.....no it's not a 1932 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, or a 1922 vintage 44 foot Thames Barge.
It's a 2004 DRZ400e!
First up, it developed a knocking at the top end......Resulting top end re-build.
Then I drowned it in a French Puddle/pond (Much to the amusement of Phil in France)....Resulting in another re-build.
Next the ECU packed up in the middle of the Lancashire moors.
I got that fixed and left it in my shed for a year.....the fuel cock was faulty....resulting in a carb strip and sonic clean.
Then my son fried the clutch riding it (again we were down st Phil's place in France) We fixed that, but I rode it the next day without changing the oil/flushing it.....blocked oil gallery (bits of clutch plate) .....resulting in a trashed intake cam a chewed cylinder head.
I picked it up from the repair shop today, I was absolutely determined to stick it on eBay....then I rode it around my field a few times......you know I really like it!
So guess what I'm keeping the little bastard.
£3507 spent in just under 600miles!

Blimey!
I had one of those once, good bike but a touch heavy. Mine had a CRD exhaust (which was way too loud) and Renthal Dakar bars which I preferred to the standard bars. Could have done with a 6th gear as well but it was a nice enough bike for trail riding.

Blimey steve, and I thought I had probs with the panzer. Hope it all goes well from now on.
Re: £3507 spent in just under 600miles!
Aside from A couple of issues...When it decided to eat its own cam shaft at 6000 miles and the ECU packing in.....all the other issues have been operator error.
It didn't throw itself into a French pond, I should have drained the fuel before storing it for 12 months rather than relying on the fuel tap. My son fried the clutch.....he'd only ever ridden a automatic scooter before, so he thought the Rekluse clutch would let him ride around French trails for 6 hours in fourth gear!
I shouldn't have ridden it after the clutch repair until I'd at least changed the oil.
They say love is blind! DRZ400e
Rekluse Clutch, Safari Tank, One Industries comfort seat, Left handle bar rear brake, FMF exhaust, K&N, Hot Cams, Tubeliss Tyre system and shinny new cylinder head.

As long as you're happy that's a ll that counts, you've had that bike for a fair while, lots of others have come and gone since
