OK, 6ft 1", 36" inside leg 14.5 stone, bike fit on enduro type bikes for 150miles of North Wales finest.
Got
Beta 300rr 2t
Honda vfr 800 fi.

Need to keep the beta, vfr can go.

Ok, need a road and off road capable bike.
Plans below
TET UK and Europe, rally moto, nc500 Road tour with sports bikes, Ireland wc1500 and mini adventures, soft luggage and light weight camping.
What I'm looking at.
Yamaha xt660z tenere
Ktm 990 adventure r
Husqvarna 701
Ktm 690 r.

Weight, Mpg and fuel capacity, bike weight and parts availability are important.
I can bridge the gap with a ktm 500/husqvarna 501 eventually.
I don't mind doing modification ie new front end etc to the xt660z.
Just want to get out and have more riding available.

Any advice 😂.

Currently my budget is £1700 + my vfr rough Value of £1500,so £3200,i can dip into my savings and stretch to£4700,then modify at will afterwards.

Honda C90! Perfect.
Weight: under 100kgs
MPG: over 100mpg
Fuel: can carry 5 litres on the back and a range of 200 miles

And you’ll have plenty of money left over for loads more adventures
Plus, smiles per mile is astronomical 👍

Hard to find/source, but have you looked at the KTM 950 Super Enduro R, more focused for off-road etc.... it's a tall beast...!
Or the newer KTM 990 SM-T, very tweakable.

Looked at the 950s, seen the enduro r version, the 990 adventure r seamed like the best option apart from the weight and mpg. Mpg is quite important as the less mpg it does the more weight I have to carry.

I've never owned one but I'd closely look at a XT660Z as you mentioned, meant to be fabulous..! I'd love one myself instead of my Strom thou size & weight wise. Maybe my next change would be a XT660Z, I need to test-ride one.

Its hard work choosing a bike that would be suitable for everything, allways a compromise with everything, my thinking is the 660z would do everything at a slower pace.

950/990 Adv...should be a lot around as people buy Yam 700s to replace them.

All the info you need is here.

https://advrider.com/f/forums/dakar-cha ... 50-990.34/

All issues outlined, all fixes described.

Still no bike to beat it as an all-round proposition IMHO.

But I haven't ridden the Yam 700, yet!
