Hey all,

I've been very sporadic posting here but I recently decided after 3 and a half years it was time for a change and traded my 2016 Explorer XR in for an almost new ex-demo 1250 GSA HP Rallye TE. The gold wheels seem to be polarising peoples opinions but I quite like them and thats all that matters.

Anyway, it's fully loaded with more toys than it probably needs but being an IT nerd I'm sure i'll have endless fun! Looking forward to getting out on it once the torrential rain stops (I don't mind rain but lately its been awful).

Anyway, he's a few gratuitous pics, I've taken off the pannier racks since as I prefer the look without.

Nice one . And I like the gold wheels. I was looking at these at the NEC show and they are a very smart looking bike, imho.

Picked mine up a few weeks ago!

We went on a tour of the Italian Dolomites a few years ago. Two of the guides had the 1200GS's and they were able to maintain a constant high speed that was difficult to keep up with, on occasions. At the time I had my Fazer 1000 which was no slouch (R1 carb engine with 145bhp, 150 mph top end etc.). I and another rider got split up from the group somewhere near Cortina and had to make our own way to the hotel without a map or a sat nav. The other rider was on a GS1200A. After about 25 miles of throttle to the stops action on B-roads (or whatever they are called in Italy) I had to ask him at a traffic light crossroads to slow the f'up because I couldn't keep up with it... . They are deceptively quick bikes.

Great bikes Im on my 3rd one as they have evolved. Does everything well and a really nice ride eating up the miles in comfort when needed plus they shift when needed. One tip is too keep an eye on the spokes ensuring they are tight as there was an issue with them although it may have been solved on your model. Im not trying to give you horror stories but would rather point it out than read about any problem you had as a result so get your dealer to check it.

Thats the best colour in my opinion you are going to love it and be hooked! Roll on the dry days and trips

If you really want to see what it can do, get it up into the Alps. They are truly great bikes.

Thanks! I’ve also heard about the spokes issue, I’m gonna be slightly paranoid checking them haha
