Re: ACF 50.... Opinions
Yes
Better than using Wd40 or gt85.
I a big bottle with a small spray bottle, clean the bike then spray it on and use a 1/4"paint brush or one of wife's make up brushes to work it in to all the nooks and crannies.
I also tend to put it every surface except the seat foot pegs brake ect.
Do it once at beginning of the winter and leave bike alone until till spring
Just in the process of doing mine now.

Re: ACF 50.... Opinions
I have used it for many years on bikes and suspect I was using to much when I was applying it.
There seems to be a bit of a mixed opinion within detailing circles that ACF50 whilst doing a good job at preventing corrosion does mean that you find areas of the bike where lots of dirt can become clumped together almost like you get behind a front sprocket cover on a chain driven bike.
I recently did a Clutch change on a older GS and getting the bike dismantled to that extent really did show how much of it had sat in areas and built up over time, I was cleaning and re cleaning certain areas for days.
So when I re apply in the coming weeks I will most likely go with the advice to put it onto a cloth and wipe a thin film of it over swing arm, engine etc and just apply some via a spray bottle if it is really needed, and only then very sparingly.
It is great stuff just don't use to much..

Yes it works, and this is how well.
Last year I got an 'advisory' on my car for corrosion starting on the subframes.
Cleaned the mud off and wiped with ACF 50.
This year...no mention of it...same tester, same station. And have been through all sorts of snow, mud etc in the last 12 months.

Greetings,
I understand that it was originally designed for aircraft use and is so still used. Especially useful for seaplanes.
It has wonderful creeping properties whilst clinging like the proverbial baby's nappy. Neutral effect on wiring and connections but does, as has been said, cling to any dust or dirt. If using it for storage protection.
Expensive upfront perhaps when compared to other products but worth far more in my view.

Hugh.

I'm a big fan of ACF50, there's a good article here http://f2mcltd.blogspot.com/2012/01/win ... r.html?m=1
There are a couple of things to be aware of, if you have access to an air compressor use that to apply it. Do not get it on brakes and tyres. I'm sad in that I take the wheels off, pads out so I can give the calipers a wipe over with a rag soaked in it.
The biggest bit of advice I can give is to make sure the bike is spotless before you start to apply it. If you onlt hose the bike down over the winter you don't need to reapply it either.
