Just a quick question. Any warranty work done on my bike, does it hold a years warranty on it. Or does it run out when my warranty runs out in July next year?
Cheers si

Re: Honda warranty
I would say that’ll it will be until the original 2 year warranty runs out.
Having read a bit about your woes, both past and present, with your bike I’d be inclined to try and negotiate a longer period of cover at least on parts relating to your problems. FOC from Honda of course.
I could of course be totally wrong.

Re: Honda warranty
If parts supplied are new then they carry 12mnths manufacturing warrenty regardless of weather they where fitted in a warrenty claim .. Also im sure any warrenty work carried out will be logged for all dealers on honda sysgem to see so come sale time it may effect price?.. You sure dont have much luck the other versions ofbthe crf1000 have few problems..

Re: Honda warranty
I believe you may find a part fitted under warranty at no cost to the owner is only covered until the existing warranty expires. 12 months parts warranty is only on parts paid for by the customer.
Your best bet is to ask Honda to extend the existing warranty as a gesture of goodwill due to the loss of use within the warranty period.

Re: Honda warranty
I dont understand this gesture of goodwill. Honda could just keep fixing the problem by replacing the faulty parts until the warranty is up in July, which is what they are doing at the moment. Surely as a consumer I have a bit more weight, in rights than that. This will now of cost Honda 7k.

Re: Honda warranty
If the thing is on finance you could try rejecting it by refusing to make any more payments on it on the grounds it's 'unfit for purpose'.
This is a risky strategy though as it could impact your credit rating.

Re: Honda warranty
A gesture of goodwill is when you extend the warranty or repair when outside warranty . It the term used and usually includes without prejudice. At least this is my experience from the vehicle industry, I assume the motorcycle industry is the same or similar. I meant if your warranty expires in July they could extend your warranty beyond that date, that would be goodwill gesture. If they have repaired the same issue 3 times and it fails again you could try trying to return it on the grounds of unfit for purpose. Have you sought any legal advice?sexysi wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 6:56 pm I dont understand this gesture of goodwill. Re: Honda warranty
Getting close to legal advice now, just written a lengthy email to the dealer. As they have rejected pitting on the front wheel from what looks like brake dust. I had the back changed 6 weeks ago under warranty for free. But I'm told that a honda bulletin has come out that no more wheels will be replaced. I have asked for reasons why things have changed from 6 weeks ago and a copy of the official honda bulletin. I also asked why originally honda changed the complete fuel system including the tank, which houses the fuel pump. But this time they are not changing the tank, just the complete fuel system only...... also I have asked for a full investigation as to why my frame is rusting..... I have even asked now for compensation, as to date my bike has been in honda workshops for 2 months, which is now extending. I have a honda finance PCP agreement on this bike, so have lost at least 2 months of use on it, I will never get the 2 months back on it as well as 2 months warranty time that I have lost.
I am fuming at the moment.

Re: Honda warranty
After rejection of my front wheel claim, even though the back was replaced 2 months ago, I have had enough. Didn't realise that you can reject a bike, under the consumers act. The way I read it the dealer has one chance to put the bike right. This was attempted a couple of months ago, with a complete new tank and fuel system replaced. As this has just happened again, with honda talking about changing the complete fuel system again. That is it for me. Especially as there in now rust growing on the frame!!!! As well. I have logged a call with Honda customer care, and either want a replacement bike or a full/partial refund. As the bike is a PCP bike with Honda finance, as long as I get my deposit back it will be enough.
