Yamaha Tenere 700 - Deliveries?

Post by HarveyCamm »

After many years and many, many miles on my Pan European I've decided to part-ex it and my CRF250L in for a Tenere 700. I got in on the early purchase deal after a test ride at the ABR weekend and now I'm finding the delivery dates - let's say sketchy! My dealers have said they're expecting demo bikes in early Oct which should mean that customer ordered bikes will have been delivered by then - has anyone else who has ordered one actually got a delivery date / estimate yet?

There's already a few more thousand miles on the Pan, if I can't get rid soon it'll need another service!!

Impatient me - maybe just a little bit :P

I got in on the early purchase deal as well but I haven't had a delivery date yet. At least the French factory has returned from holiday now so fingers crossed

Stick with (or upgrade) your current arrangements. 2 well focused bikes are better than 1 compromise bike however great the hype and brilliant the marketing photos of new shiney bikes skimming effortlessly across the desert .

The hype will die down and T7s will be ho hum in a year or two

I rode the T700 at the ABR Fest and loved it
I deliberated up to the end of July and the Promo deal - it was only £300
I spoke to the 3 dealers in Yorkshire and non of them could even give an estimated delivery date as there were loads who had ordered in April/May & June already
Late September was the best - but more likely mid to later October at best
So, bearing that in mind (and I don't ride on the road in winter) I decided to defer to Spring 2020 and then there would be plenty of farkle options too, over the winter
For the sake of saving £300 it was a good option and maybe there may be be some discount of more than £300 in 2020

Ordered mine in May and the dealer's heard nothing yet. No problem though, waiting is often better than having ☺ Some have however got out of the factory as evidenced by a Ceramic Ice one that's on the road around here.
