I have one of these bikes and can say I am delighted with my purchase, I find the Ranger to be slightly lower seat than the Beta Xtrainer otherwise totally agree with what's said in the video.

My mods to the bike include :-

S3 Enduro/MX Hardrock Footrests / APX ENDURO ‘EXTREME 8mm Sump guard with linkage protection / good quality brush guards and a Polisport Armadillo pipe guard.

I will be having the seat made more suitable to my needs [more comfortable] after my imminent 2 day trip and the only reason the footrests were changed was the left one squashed to half it's original size in a big off on the rocks in the Lake District.

I am delighted with the bike and am riding some more technical lanes I had recently been missing out on my TTR250 Yam.

Well that's a fairly good advert for the Ranger in itself, because despite its age the TTR250 is one of those great little bikes that can tackle lots of terrain. If you have any pics, video or further thoughts on the Ranger, please post them on here, 2Yams. It's the kind of bike that would suit a lot of us I think.

I have done a lot of mileage on a Beta XTrainer and the beta is a good bike, but in my opinion the Gasgas Ranger is much better for me, my reasons being.

1 Price £4995 + on the road etc.

2 Suspension much better.

3 Fuel tank range better.

4 Lower seat.

5 Smoothest running 2 stroke I have ever had.

6 Subtle colour scheme.

I may have helped the fuel consumption a bit as I changed the front 12 tooth sprocket for a 13 leaving the 48 tooth on the back.
Also as I lead most of my rides, I like indicators on my bikes and they were included in the deal.

This video was from the 2 day trip where the photos were taken......the Ranger is not on the video but it went up the step [cholerford steps] also went up the "H" for anyone familiar with Northumberland etc.

That Ranger looks great , nice to have a bit more choice in the less full-on enduro sector. Good price there in UK at least, think they're around 7k euros here in France.

One really annoying thing for me was the hair trigger side stand....I think it may be a legal requirement, but a simple mod has cured this.

My SWM RS650R had one of those stands. There is a protrusion on the end of the pivot bolt which stretches and acts on the springs pulling the side stand up as soon as you put the bike upright. I took a hacksaw and a file to it now the stand stays where it is until i flick the stand up myself. It is a legal requirement and is an easier option than removing and shorting out a side stand micro switch.

A shame that it has one of those external 'add-on' starter motors, like the EXC300, and it has no kicker. So there's a risk there. But everything else sounds good.

Have not actually gone onto reserve as yet but filled up with almost 80 miles showing.
