Matt paint doesn’t do it for me either but what do I know.....I’ve got a yellow and black bike.
Whatever the thoughts on the colour they are a nice looking bike and it’s always exciting taking ownership of a new ride.

Matt is easy to scratch and hard to clean. Looks great brand new, but it's difficult to keep the bike from looking tatty if you use it regularly in all weathers. That chrome Triumph tank badge stands out well against it though.
Retros not generally my thing, but they're getting better. Triumph's newest Thruxton R is properly quick and handles, while still looking like a nice old café racer. And Kawasaki has got it right with the Z900 recreation IMO. Suzuki's Katana not quite so good.
The shame is that what Triumph now calls a 'Bonneville' was once a fairly light bike, back in the 60s, and has gained a lot of pounds in it's current form. OK, it's now reliable and doesn't have a permanent puddle of oil beneath it, but that simple light formula has been lost along the way.

Maybe it’s how the weight is carried but moving my ‘67 Trophy around doesn’t feel any different to my 2017 Street Twin.
But, agreed, bikes are way too lardy nowadays. The trouble is, anything at around 175kg aren’t ‘proper’ old school road bikes.
My wife hates stepped seats with perched pillions and folded knees so that rules out 98% of bikes.
My Street Twin could have a tad more oomph but, for the riding I now do, it’s good fun without being over-powered. I had a quick ride on Tuesday and there was so much slow traffic I rarely got above 50 anyway.
I prefer gloss black I’m afraid.

Never ridden the original bonny but if the 865 is anything to go off, it's everything you need from a modern motorcycle.
I'd have one tomorrow, but the other half would murder me, then resuscitate me, and then murder me again if I moved her rowing machine any closer to the shed wall.
