KTM 990 NOx value

Post by MHsnowy »

Been reading about the ULEZ and entered the reg number on the site and came back that my 990 Adventure does not conform.

Then read that if the NOx value on your V5 shows it to be below 0.15 then they will exempt it.

The problem is my V5 has nothing marked in any of the emission boxes.

Does anybody with a 2006 KTM 990 Adventure have any figures on their V5 that they could confirm the NOx value?

Thanks

Mark

Certain models from certain manufacturers were not tested for emissions at source (the factory) - Honda for example don't have test results, which are required by TFL for Africa Twins or Dominators, so TFL has automatically excluded them from conformity. They will however accept results from test by their appointed test centre at a cost of £175 ( pass or fail ! ). Plus an hourly charge for carb' and exhaust adjustment which may still not result in a pass !

Personally I need a couple of bikes passed as I'm currently using an '09 conforming 1200 Buell Ulysses 'round town which is a real, I mean REAL pig in traffic. It's vibrations are cracking the road surface as well as my nuts !

I'm having an (unofficial) Nox test done, luckily for NO charge this weekend, which will at least give some indication for an AT or NX650 getting through the official test .

This would be your only option too if KTM have no data available.

They sort of contradict themselves, because on the website they give a year as 2007 because their records show that there were no Euro 3 bikes before that.

My 990 is a Euro 3 bike but is a 2006!

I'll try my local KTM dealer and see if he can make a phone call on my behalf to KTM UK to see if they can supply me with a Certificate of Conformity.

A quick search showed
certificate of Conformity has been discussed several times before on this forum
https://adventurebikerider.com/forum/se ... conformity
Maybe something in there will be more helpful.

Also I think this topic came up on the KTM forum.
Perhaps a search there would help.

Thanks but not any real helpful information on those as didn't really cover the answer to my question.

I have just punched in details of my 2016 Africa Twin to the TFL site and it is showing that NO charge will be due and the vehicle is compliant!!! (Phew)

A mate has a selection of cars but the only exempt one is the gas guzzling new 5.0 litre Mustang! :?
As ever, they’ve gone about this the wrong way.

I met a guy at the Thetford Safari that is going to have his elderly Minsk two smoke tested privately. He reckons its worth the punt because although it smokes like a chimney its in such a low state of tune that its NOx emissions should be very low! To be honest in general its probably worth a private test rather than fork out for a new bike(assuming that you have a rough idea of how "clean" it is!)
