reason is I've just finished the carbon/kevlar tank protectors--prototype(first out of the mould). They bolt on using the outside 3 bolts OVER the stock plastic to give an extra protection layer. The tanks are about 1k if you hole one. I'm looking for an owner to try them FOC and give a report with pics. I will supply this set FOC but of course a donation would be appreciated. They will retail on www.kodamacomposites.co.uk if ok --and at about £110 the pair. Its been a long road to get this far!Trial fit 2 10 June 2019.jpg

You really could be on to a winner there, Cactus. The 790 tank really sticks out, so bash protectors are even more important. Get them on ebay as soon as you can - I'm sure you could sell lots of them. Presumably KTM will come out with something too, but I bet they won't cost £110.

Look at that small guy out in Estonia or wherever - P-Tech. He's selling loads of those alloy enduro covers, bash-plates and radiator guards and they look great. I don't think he's much bigger than a small factory unit.

If I was Philopolous Profiterole from Dragon's Den, I'd definitely be saying 'I'm in'.

Very best of luck with it.

thanks for that--however, I avoid e-bay and trust specialist forums and my website. I already do carbon/kevlar bashplates for various bikes--and case covers--I'm not a fan of bent bits of aluminium as they have no give--and generally look a bit of a bodge. I run my own stuff and the wr and kawa bashplates have taken real beatings and survived well--and the Honda CRF 250 Rally stuff is also proving popular--and Scooby tests it!--lets see how this is received--some stuff proves popular, some doesn't. I have made a decent bashplate for the BMW 310 GS to replace the flimsy stock part--but so far not many takers.

I had slow low side on a gravel road. A few scuff marks nothing major. I was going about 25 MPH and let the clutch out in 1st for engine breaking (down hill approaching a turn). Squeezed the clutch in and took the turn fine. When I let the clutch back out the engine was dead and the wheel locked up and slid out. No damage other than minor scuffing on the tank guard. The carbon fiber would have probably done fine, but looked much worse.
