Bmwf800gs

Post by licondam »

Hi all i am looking for a little advise, i have owned a Bmwf800gs on a 2009 from new and about a year and a half ago decided to sell it. at the time of sale it had only 14560 miles on the clock. I am now looking to buy one on a 2013 plate with 28000 miles on the clock and in adventure spec. So my question to you guy's is, Are the engine's good for high miles and is there a lot of differences between the two model's? .To be honest should have never sold the first one{live and learn}. many thanks steve

Hi,these engines are known for their reliability with some members on the BMW GS forum seeing over 100,000 miles with no major issues. There was an issue with some of the early bikes cooking the stator coils but BMW changed the stator and flywheel on the later models. My 2009 model only had 16,000 miles on the clock but it ran like a new bike and i had no problems during my ownership.
